What can I expect in a Pelvic Floor Session? In your initial intake session, we discuss your health history and goals, and the Doctor will explain the pelvic anatomy with a pelvic floor model and answer any of your questions. In your treatment sessions, the pelvic muscles and fascia are assessed intravaginally to determine how the muscles are engaging. Treatment includes various intrapelvic and intravaginal techniques including myofascial release, trigger point therapy, abdominal massage, intravaginal massage and breath work techniques. Each visit includes a spinal and/or pelvic assessment and adjustment if necessary, and any necessary rehabilitative exercises are given.

How is a Pelvic Floor session different from an appointment with an OBGYN?As an Integrative Chiropractic Bodyworker, I will ask many of the same questions as an OBGYN, though my treatment differs. An OBGYN visit typically consists of an exam with a speculum, where as I am primarily focused on assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal health including alignment of the spine and pelvis, and tone or tightness of the abnomino-pelvic fascia. I do not perform PAP exams or practice Obstetrics, and stirrups aren't needed for my therapy. My aim is to create a safe, warm and inviting healing space for all of your pelvic health needs.

What is the popping sound I hear with Chiropractic? The popping sound you hear during a chiropractic adjustment is caused by the release of gas from the fluid surrounding your joints. This is a natural and common occurrence during spinal manipulation and is often accompanied by a feeling of relief and increased mobility. The popping sound is not indicative of damage or injury, but rather a sign that the adjustment is restoring proper function to your joints. At Salt Lake Spine and Pelvis, our skilled chiropractors use gentle, precise techniques to perform adjustments that are tailored to your specific needs and comfort level. We prioritize your well-being and strive to provide a safe and effective chiropractic experience. What will I notice after a Pelvic Floor Therapy Session? Most women notice a sense of calm, and relief of tension after their sessions, with a renewed sense of connection to the pelvic bowl. A sense of grounded-ness and deeper embodiment is also noted due to the nature of the work and enhancement of proprioception and enteroception (energy flows where attention goes!). As the goal of the work is intended to provide both physical and energetic balance to the pelvis, it can sometimes bring up emotions stored deep in the tissues. At times, a referral to a trained counselor or specialist may be made to assist in this work. If you have a history with trauma, please be sure to have a current relationship with a trained specialist.

Is it true that if I get adjusted once I will always need to?No, it is not true that if you get adjusted once, you will always need to. Chiropractic adjustments are designed to restore proper function to the spine and pelvis, and the frequency of adjustments will depend on the individual's specific needs and goals. While some patients may benefit from ongoing maintenance care to prevent future issues, others may only need a few adjustments to address a specific problem. At Salt Lake Spine and Pelvis, our approach is to provide personalized care plans tailored to each patient's unique needs and to empower them with exercises and education to support their long-term health and wellness. We believe in addressing the root cause of the issue and equipping our patients with tools to support their overall health, rather than creating a dependency on frequent adjustments.
