Woman Seated Unwell

You are not alone.

One in three women will experience some type of pelvic floor dysfunction in her lifetime.
Many are dismissed or told their symptoms are “normal,” something to just live with, or simply part of aging, childbirth, stress, or athletic activity.

However, chronic symptoms are frequently a sign that the body needs further support and restoration.

Pelvic floor dysfunction can seriously impact our well-being and health. It can negatively impact comfort, movement, confidence, intimacy, and our overall quality of life.

Many women silently live with:

• pelvic tension or pressure
• discomfort or pain with sitting
• hip or tailbone pain
• leaking with exercise, laughing, coughing or sneezing
• painful intercourse
• core weakness after pregnancy
• symptoms that fluctuate with stress
• a feeling that something “just isn’t right down there"

These concerns are common, valid, and highly treatable.

What is Pelvic Floor Therapy?

The pelvic floor is a group of muscles, fascia, and nerves that acts like a supportive hammock and rests at the base of the pelvic bowl. It acts like a basin, and intimately affects and supports:

• bladder and bowel function
• the reproductive organs
• core stability
• posture and spinal alignment
• sexual function
• breathing mechanics

The pelvis is the foundation of our posture and supports the low back. It also connects to the hips and abdomen. Different branches of the nervous system make sure it functions properly. Because the pelvis is directly connected to the lower back and its nerves, pelvic floor dysfunction often overlaps with:

low back pain
hip pain
SI joint discomfort
core weakness
postural strain
stress-related muscle tension

A whole-body, holistic approach is key to lasting improvement.

A Unique Approach

A Whole-Body Approach to Women's Health and The Pelvic Floor

Dr. Marnie Hansen combines chiropractic care, rehabilitative exercise, and gentle manual therapies to help restore coordination and ease within the pelvis and surrounding structures.

Treatment may include:

• pelvic floor rehabilitation
• gentle chiropractic adjustments
• myofascial release
• craniosacral therapy
• postural rehabilitation
• breath and nervous system work
• core retraining
• movement guidance
• lifestyle and nutrition considerations when appropriate

It takes a team to heal. Care is individualized and always guided by patient comfort.

Internal pelvic techniques are only used when appropriate and with clear consent as Dr. Marnie's approach is trauma-informed and compassionate. Many patients benefit from external treatment alone.

The goal is to unlock the body’s natural ability to heal and restore balance through providing a sense of deeper embodiment and well-being.

Why Choose a Chiropractor for Pelvic Floor Care?

Understanding the connection between the spine and the pelvis.

Doctors of Chiropractic receive extensive training in:

Biomechanics
Neurology
Orthopedics
Rehabilitative exercise
Physiotherapy
Spinal and pelvic function

Because the spine, sacrum, and pelvis directly influence pelvic floor muscle tone and coordination, addressing spinal alignment and movement patterns can be an important component of pelvic floor care.

Dr. Hansen holds certification through the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners in both Chiropractic and Physiotherapy and has completed advanced training in pelvic floor rehabilitation, postural correction, and functional movement.

Her clinical approach integrates:

Pelvic floor therapy training from Herman & Wallace
The Female Athlete pelvic rehabilitation coursework
Gyno Chiropractic pelvic floor certification program
Extensive spinal rehabilitation training
Craniosacral therapy
Yoga-based movement therapy (from her years as a yogi, and teacher training)

Institute of Functional Medicine training in hormones, gut health and environmental health

This allows for well balanced care that address both local pelvic concerns and whole-body contributors.

Dr Marnie is amazing! I've had multiple therapists for neck, shoulder, and pelvis work; then found her. Being strategic with my treatment, let alone time, is a no brainer. I'm a big fan of integrative medicine, and can't wait to see my body transform

If you’re looking for a pelvic floor PT, or chiropractor, or craniosacral therapist, you’ve found her. Dr. Marnie is the best of the best. I’ve been to Reborn for pelvic floor PT and my experience with Dr. Marnie was so much better than with Reborn. She is so knowledgeable, caring, and respectful; she has fabulous bedside manner. I knew I could trust her from the very start. She helped me totally heal my pelvic floor pain postpartum and worked with me to release my pelvic floor trigger points while trying to conceive which was successful! Baby #2 due in November! I will not go to anyone else for pelvic floor PT.
I also see her for chiropractic care and her adjustments are my favorite as well. I’ve been to several chiropractors and she’s best. She is so good at what she does and I’m so grateful to have found her.

    Absolutely great experience!
I am 7 months pregnant and was struggling to breathe and walk. I thought it was a part of being pregnant but it was getting really bad with inflamed joints throughout my body and pelvic floor pain. I thought I was doing everything I could to eat well, bike, walk but could barely walk 2 miles a day. Breathing was so hard and I was so tired.

After just 3 visits, I can breathe normally and am able to walk 5 miles. I have been to so many health and body workers over my lifetime (not pregnant). Partly sports injuries, partly life traumas, and just enjoy the different modalities at this point.

Dr Marnie encompasses a wealth of techniques, connections that I really appreciate. You can tell she understands how it all works together. It helps to have someone see you when you can’t see yourself. This is the best thing I have done
    for my whole pregnancy.
